Judy Flanagan
Judy was born and raised in a small town near Glacier National Park in Montana. Her love for houses and real estate began at the age of 19 when she purchased her first apartment building and sold it a year later for a sizeable profit! Judy then moved to San Francisco and began working in the airline industry as a flight attendant. “I was on the adventure of my life…. country mouse moves to the city and then starts flying around the world.” She worked for World Airways until she met and married her husband, Jim. In 1989, Judy decided to put her feet back on the ground and explore her earlier passion by selling real estate with Merrill Lynch in Sausalito, CA and purchasing distressed properties to renovate. Over a seventeen year period, Judy purchased, built, remodeled and sold over 22 personal properties.
After the birth of their daughter Jacky, Judy and Jim began looking for an area similar to where they had grown up. “We wanted a safe, wholesome place to raise a child.” It wasn’t until Jacky started middle school that they found the place they lovingly dubbed “Modern Mayberry”. On a fluke trip to Charleston, the family ventured to Hilton Head for a game of golf and fell in love. “It wasn’t an easy decision, packing up and moving across the country, especially with a teenager, but looking back, it was the best thing we’ve ever done. You could search the world over and never find the quality lifestyle we have here. Nothing beats it.”
Judy is a realtor with a true passion for the lowcountry, and her enthusiasm for selling property here is evident as soon as you meet her. “It’s like a treasure hunt without maps since most everything is gated and without for-sale signs.” Finding the right house in the community that best fits her clients' needs is a challenge she enjoys along with building relationships with buyers, sellers, and colleagues.
