Tom Jackson
Tom Jackson grew up near Atlanta, the son of a commercial pilot and homemaker. His love for travel began as a youngster flying all over the world with his parents and three older sisters. Tom played college football at the University of Georgia, graduated in 1981 with a degree in business, and immediately began a successful career in sales throughout the southeast, later working in the mortgage banking business and then touring the globe once again in the European Auto Delivery industry. These early experiences were tremendous preparation for his career as a real estate broker. "I have been blessed to travel all over the world, but I can honestly say there is no place I'd rather live than the South Carolina lowcountry. I love getting to know people, showing them all the lowcountry lifestyle has to offer, and helping them find just the right place to call home."
Tom's love for the lowcountry began in the early 1980's, when his parents retired to beautiful Hilton Head Island. In 1985, after many visits to the island, Tom was offered a real estate sales position with the Melrose Company during the initial development stages of the golf communities on exclusive Daufuskie Island. Since that time, Tom has spent almost thirty years specializing in lowcountry properties with over $600,000,000 in sales throughout communities including The Daufuskie Island Club, Haig Point, Colleton River, Belfair Plantation, Berkeley Hall, Oldfield, Hampton Lake, and Palmetto Bluff. Tom and his wife, Tiphany, met and got married in the lowcountry and have resided on the mainland with their three children since 1996. Foreseeing the resurgence of the historic town of Bluffton, the gateway to Hilton Head, Tom and his business partners founded Gateway Realty in 2001. Since the formation of this visionary real estate company, the mainland has truly become the heart of the Lowcountry.
Despite national economic downturn, the lowcountry continues to grow and flourish as folks from all over the world discover this special place in the heart of the south. As Tom points out, "Tourists have always come to this area because of the natural beauty, the beaches, the golf and tennis. Now folks are settling here to live because of those things and also for the safe, friendly neighborhoods, the rich culture, and the desire to find a tranquil, welcoming place and a slower-paced, simpler lifestyle. This is no longer just a place to retire, but also a wonderful place to raise your children - the Lowcountry is truly an ideal setting for any stage of life.
